Welcome to Natural Lens Photography!

You may be wondering what I mean by "Natural" Lens. "Natural" refers to anything in the physical world, including humans and our creations. According to dictionary.com, nature is the universe; with all its phenomena, it is reality, as distinguished from any effect of art. In this sense, natural is of or relating to nature or the universe. From a philosophical perspective, this idea is related to ethical naturalism, the attempt to place ethical properties and thought in the natural world.

My perspective on nature and "natural" differs from the more commonly held view that nature is the material world, especially as it surrounds humankind and exists independently of human activities, as the natural world exists without human beings or civilization. In this narrower view, humans and human-made objects are non-natural.

Moreover, I'm a visual artist. While visual photography aims to captivate through beauty and technical precision, conceptual photography, for example, seeks to engage the viewer's mind, often through symbolic and abstract representations. Both approaches are valuable and can intersect, but they differ fundamentally in their objectives and how they communicate with the audience.

Finally, my diverse interests make categorizing the photographs on my site challenging, but I've organized the website to make navigating the varied subject matter and styles easier.

I hope you find something on the site that is visually appealing, thought-provoking, or prompts you to "see things differently."

Enjoy!
